about

I am a quantitative spatial ecologist who holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science with first class honours in GIS and a Doctor of Philosophy in quantitative spatial ecology through Deakin University.

For the past decade I have worked in the private (e.g. environmental consultancies) and university sectors where I have applied my skills in GIS, quantitative statistics, species distribution modelling and biodiversity monitoring to a range of applied aquatic and terrestrial conservation projects with direct policy implications at local, state and federal government levels (see my research  page for examples).

I am currently working with Dr Neville Barrett (and others) on the statistical challenges associated with monitoring Australia's Commonwealth Marine Reserve Network. This work is linked to the NESP Marine Biodiversity Hub.

In my downtime I like spending time outdoors with my family. I am also a very keen underwater photographer (hence the marine centric images used in this website!) and passionate surfer.

There is nothing better than clearing my head by going for a surf.
